Faith Words: Stand

What do we stand for?  If we don’t know, we can be moved to another position and that’s not standing. 

So I ask again, what do we stand for? Or asked another way, where do we stand?

Remember the words from the old  hymn, “On Christ the solid rock, I stand. All other ground is sinking sand.”  Here’s another: “How firm a foundation ye saints of the Lord is laid for your faith in His excellent word.”  And don’t forget: “Standing on the promises of Christ my King.”  One more:  “Build your hopes on things eternal.  Hold to God’s unchanging hand.”

We stand on Christ, our Lord and King. When our faith is based firmly on the truth of His Word, we stand. The most secure things in this world will pass away.  Only God is eternal and unchanging.

So make Him your foundation and stand.

Change - It's constant.  Some change I like.  Some I don't.  Change takes work.  But I need changing.  I certainly don't want to stay like I am forever.  A couple of weeks ago, we sang a song during worship that goes:  "Ancient words ever true, changing me and changing you."  That's the kind of change I need - the change only that God's Word can make in my heart. Faith Words: January 1, 2012 - A New Beginning

A new beginning - how many times have I asked God for a new beginning?  What will I do with this new year?  Will I set goals, make plans to do things I've put off doing in years past?  How can I be sure I'll follow through this year? I've decided to make this year different.  Oh, sure, I'll continue to set goals and make plans, but this year, I want to be more intentional about making the most of each day the Lord gives me.  With God's help, I want to live in today.
