Faith Words: Walk

Walking has become difficult for me. You see, I have a limp. It seems to be the result of muscle weakness, inactivity, and bad posture, so I’m going to physical therapy. It’s a small facility. Quiet and calm. Quite unlike most of the therapy places I’ve gone to before. The therapist and his techs are kind and thorough. They ask a lot of questions and doing a lot of testing trying to find out exactly what’s causing my limp and associated pain.

But my therapy is not all on them. I have to be willing to work with them and do the exercises just like they tell me. Sometimes that means slowing down, listening to their instructions, and doing things in the right form, as we work together to correct a lifetime of bad habits. They correct me when I’m doing it wrong and encourage me when I get it right. We’re a team with the same goal in mind: improving my walk.

God works like that. He gives clear, precise instructions in His Word. I have to do my part by reading His Word, practicing the principles He gives, and changing to do things His way.

He watches me as I try to do what He says. He gives me discipline and course corrections when and where I need them and encouragement as I listen and obey.  We work together to correct a lifetime of bad habits.

We’re a team, God and I, with the same goal in mind: improving my walk with Him.

Walking stronger,

Patrice

Psalm‬ ‭86‬:‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬
