Faith Words: New Attitude, New Self

As parents, especially of teenagers, we’ve probably all said at one time or other: “You need an attitude adjustment!” Sometimes I think I can hear the Lord saying the same thing to me. When I try to adjust my attitude myself, the adjustment doesn’t last.  I might be able to control my outward responses for a while, but deep down the attitude stays the same and resurfaces when it wants. Please, Lord, change my attitude from the the inside out, so I no longer reflect who I was but so I can reflect who I am in You! New attitude, new self. Patrice Ephesians‬ ‭4:22-24 NIV You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. ‭‭

Faith Words: New Things

I love old things:  furniture, dishes, implements, recipes, traditions. But sometimes old things aren’t what we need.  The Lord knows this.  Our old habits and patterns are beautiful to us - comforting, predictable.  It’s not easy laying aside old things because we value them; we trust them. But our trust is misplaced when it’s in the things and traditions and not the One who is Himself the source of all that is good. Embrace the Lord in His new thing, listen to Him, learn from Him.  He will lead you in the paths of life.  Let Him show you which old things to leave behind and which will build your faith in the new thing He is doing. Out with the old, in with the new. Patrice Isaiah‬ ‭43:19‬ ‭NIV‬‬ See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. ‭‭
