Faith Words: Put On Your Helmet

Our youngest grandchild just turned 3.  We gave her a child's safety helmet to go along with her new scooter. The little helmet is pink and white with Minnie Mouse's picture on it, including mouse ears and a bow that stand up on top.

Vivienne loves it.  She wore it to try out the scooter and around the house while playing with other new toys she'd received.  It's a hit!

Later, at bedtime, she climbed out of bed to find her helmet and bring it back to the bedroom with her.  At first, she put it beside her bed.  Then, she moved it to the foot of the bed.  Next, it was by her pillow.  But by the time she had fallen asleep, she was wearing it.  She wanted that helmet close.  She wanted that helmet on her head.

The Lord God has given us a helmet, too.  It's the helmet of salvation.  It's designed to protect our minds from doubt and give us a certainty in our salvation.  But it only works if we wear it.

All too often, we forget to put it on and so the enemy is able to plant the seeds of doubt, hopelessness and failure in our minds. Next thing you know, we've forgotten that it is God who saves us through Jesus Christ and start trying to save ourselves.  Or worse still, we start doubting we can be saved at all.

Satan doesn't take a day off from spiritual warfare, so you've got to be prepared.  Use God's armor.  Wear it daily.

And don't forget your helmet!
