Faith Words: Merry Christmas

Christmas Day. So full of memories, so full of meaning.

Earlier this month, I encouraged you to watch “The Christmas Candle” on  Netflix.  I hope you did.  It’s one of the sweetest Christmas stories I’ve ever watched.

The heart of the story is told in the theme song:  “Miracle Hymn”. The lyrics describe our Christian hope in words that few songs or hymns do. Something about this hymn resonates in my soul. Here are the lyrics:

Miracle Hymn

On a starry night in Bethlehem,
a child was born to bring light to men,
and our faith waned, our eyes grew dim.
In a candle's light, we found hope again.

There are miracles all around,
miracles yet to be found.
Hid in every heart is an answered prayer.
Like a candle's flame, hope will lead us there.

When the darkness comes, let the light shine through.
A spark of flame will ignite in you.
In a candle's glow, a virgin's womb,
in a simple prayer, in the empty tomb.

There are miracles all around,
miracles yet to be found.
Hid in every heart is an answered prayer.
Like a candle's flame, hope will lead us there.

When the light has dawned on Christmas Day,
we will raise our voice in endless praise.
When the light has dawned on Christmas Day,
we will say:

There are miracles all around,
miracles yet to be found.
Hid in every heart is an answered prayer.
Like a candle's flame, hope will lead us there.

Hope in the Lord leads us as surely as any light that shines on our path. When we can’t see our way clearly with our natural eyes, the Lord can illuminate the way we should go. We need only to pray and believe.

Faith is a gift. Faith is confirmed by experience. Faith is assurance even when experience says its impossible.  I think faith is most evident when it makes no sense. Holding on to God’s hand thru every storm and trial, in good times and fair weather - that’s faith. Trusting that He knows and cares and will see us through.

I don’t know where 2017 has taken you. I don’t know where you’ll go in 2018. But as a child of God, I know if you trust Him, you’ll come through safe and whole. That’s faith. That’s hope.

If you trust God, then do what He has set before you. Walk the path in front of you and trust Him to illuminate it. And even in the darkness, let your life reflect His goodness, and His glory will light the way. Don't lose hope.  He hears your pray.  He lights the way.  He has and will work miracles for you.

Join us in 2018 in memorizing God's Word.  Put His Hope in your heart.  Let His Light shine in you - through you.

Keeping the faith,

Patrice

Colossians 1:27 NIV

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
