Faith Words: Expected But Unexpected

The last time we drove down this county road, it was under construction.  The intersections were rough and bumpy and there were potholes and ruts full of water.  Yesterday, we found it complete.  It was wide and smooth.  The intersections were strong, reinforced to handle heavy truck traffic.  The ditches and fence lines were clean and dry.  We knew they'd finish the road someday.  Expected but unexpected.

We had heard there was a chance of rain this weekend but that also means there's a chance it won't rain, so when we woke up Saturday morning to find it had indeed rained, we were delighted and pleasantly surprised.  We knew it'd rain again someday.  Expected but unexpected.

I hadn't heard from my friend in weeks.  She had moved back home and was busy readjusting.   Yesterday, out of the blue, she texted that she was in town and wanted to get together.  I knew I'd hear from her eventually.  Expected but unexpected.

Sometimes the blessings show up right when we expect them to, but sometimes they're a long time coming.  Just think about the faithful father watching the horizon for some sign of his son day after day.  He hoped his son would return.  He expected his return.  Then, suddenly one day, there he was!  Expected but unexpected.

What are you looking for?  Do you lose hope in the waiting?  Do you think it's never going to happen?

God sends His blessings and answers our prayers in His perfect time but not always when we expect.  God always shows up.  Stay hopeful.  Keep trusting.  Expect the unexpected.

Waiting in expectation,

Patrice

1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV

However, as it is written, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him."

Proverbs 3:3-4 NIV

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
