Faith Words: New Things

I love old things:  furniture, dishes, implements, recipes, traditions. But sometimes old things aren’t what we need.  The Lord knows this.

Our old habits and patterns are beautiful to us - comforting, predictable.  It’s not easy laying aside old things because we value them; we trust them. But our trust is misplaced when it’s in the things and traditions and not the One who is Himself the source of all that is good.

Embrace the Lord in His new thing, listen to Him, learn from Him.  He will lead you in the paths of life.  Let Him show you which old things to leave behind and which will build your faith in the new thing He is doing.

Out with the old, in with the new.

Isaiah‬ ‭43:19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
